Excel Construction of Florida Donates $50,000 in Renovations for FLITE Center Palm Beach
Winner of a FLITE Center “Bridge Builder Award,” Excel Construction of Florida donated $50,000 in time and resources as part of a community initiative
Excel Construction of Florida, a leading construction company in Florida with a diversified portfolio of industrial, Class A, commercial, manufacturing, distribution and retail projects, has completed a $50,000 renovation of an indoor counseling space and kitchen at FLITE Center’s West Palm Beach location serving youth and young adult survivors of human trafficking for all of Palm Beach County. Excel Construction has also been honored by FLITE Center with a “Bridge Builder Award,” for the company’s significant donation to complete the project.
Last August, FLITE Center was awarded in-kind services from Excel Construction through the company’s inaugural community initiative that provided non-profit organizations in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties with an opportunity to transform an indoor or outdoor space with a $15,000 construction grant that included materials and staff time.
“We recognize the important role nonprofit organizations play in addressing critical problems in the local community and wanted to support those efforts with funding toward construction needs,” said Excel Construction’s President Eric Wolf. “With the generous support of our subcontractors and dedicated team of professionals, we were able to go above and beyond our initial scope of work for FLITE.”
Over one dozen nonprofit organizations submitted a grant application, but it was FLITE Center’s efforts to address a global human trafficking crisis by providing critical trauma-informed programs, services and a haven to youth trafficking victims and families that captured the attention of Excel Construction.
“We created a relaxing and private counseling area, a breakroom area with a small kitchen, and added new lighting and flooring, with the hope that these new and inviting spaces will bring some comfort to youth, families and staff as they begin the healing process and receive vital support services to move forward toward a better life,” Wolf said of the renovations. “This was a very meaningful project for us to be able to significantly transform an emergency landing space for human trafficking survivor youth and their families.”
Among the generous subcontractors and vendors who donated time and supplies to help bring this project to completion were Precision Ceiling, Mousseri Painting, Atlantic Doors & Hardware, Bryant Electric, BLT Lawn Care, Flooring Concepts, Kyle Plumbing, Air Tech HVAC, NDA Cabinets, Breeze Pressure Cleaning and Final Touch Interiors.
“FLITE Center is extremely grateful to Excel Construction for their generosity and unwavering commitment in support of our mission,” said Christine Frederick, CEO of FLITE Center. “Their grant and the collective efforts of their partners have helped us to create a safe and nurturing space for our youth to receive critical mental health services, which fosters a profound sense of hope and healing.”
FLITE Center Palm Beach’s 1,500-sq.-ft. drop-in center and Falcon’s Ridge Emergency Landing Space is in the historic Progressive Northwest sector of downtown West Palm Beach, providing direct, hands-on services that are easily accessible for youth in the community. FLITE Center is dedicated to preparing vulnerable youth and those aging out of foster care for a successful transition to independence through housing, education, employment and system of care coordination. Created in 2009 by the Junior League of Greater Fort Lauderdale, the Community Foundation of Broward and the United Way of Broward County, FLITE Center offers one-stop, drop-in services for teens and young adults ages 13 to 23 involved in the child welfare system and who have aged out of homes with relatives, caregivers or who are victims of other distressing circumstances.
With a mission to “Stand for What Counts,” Excel Construction values community engagement and giving back. Each year, the company supports organizations that support children, families, education and the environment, allocating funding to sponsor non-profit organizations and donating time to various civic initiatives. Among the organizations Excel Construction supports are the Max M. Fisher Boys & Girls Club in Riviera Beach, L.A Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center, Stranahan House, Humane Society of Broward County, Broward Education Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Broward County.
